The listed building on Tesselschadestraat was once the former headquarters of the Labour Party and exudes character in every sense. This comes as no surprise, as this townhouse was the first work by Jos Cuypers, commissioned by his father Pierre. The entire exterior of this listed building has been restored by Van Mourik Bouw. The interior of the building has been divided into six flats and one penthouse.
Prior to the renovation, the entire building was fitted with new piles, a new foundation and a basement. The entire roof of the listed building was replaced with a slate roof. The glaze on the string courses on the façades had completely deteriorated. On site, the bricks of these string courses were re-glazed by hand, one by one. Structural and architectural modifications were also made inside the building to accommodate a lift.
