On Oranje Nassaulaan in Amsterdam Oud-Zuid, Van Mourik Bouw has renovated a listed building, converting three residential floors into a high-end luxury home. This distinctive and spacious flat, built in 1912, was completely gutted inside and then given a new layout.
To meet noise requirements in relation to the flat above, the listed ceiling has been fitted with Easycell sound-absorbing flakes, which are blown into the space between the existing joists under high pressure. The advantage of this method of retrofitting insulation is that the existing ceiling—which is usually listed—can be retained.
