On Leidsegracht in Amsterdam, Van Mourik Bouw has completely restored the exterior of a listed building dating from 1884. The entire interior has been converted into a high-end residence. At the rear of the property is a garden, for which Van Mourik Bouw provided the design and carried out the landscaping.
This unique canal-side property and listed building, dating from 1884, features many distinctive details. This made it a challenge to ensure the building met today’s contemporary and high-quality standards, whilst preserving its heritage features. For example, the historic ceilings could not be removed, but they did need to be fitted with lighting and ventilation. The historic panelling could not be altered, but technical systems had to be incorporated into it.
