Walibi – Lost Gravity

Biddinghuizen

In collaboration with a German colleague, Van Mourik Bouw realized the Lost Gravity roller coaster in the Walibi Holland amusement park. The roller coaster of the type BigDipper opened in March 2016. The black and yellow steel tracks take visitors to a height of 32 meters and then drive them into the depths with a twisted drop. Lost Gravity reaches a top speed of 87 kilometers per hour. At this speed the 680-meter-long track is completed in 82 seconds.

Van Mourik Bouw was responsible for the dimensions, the departure and arrival hall, and the foundation, which consists of heavy drilling piles with foundation beams. On top of these beams, the anchors were attached.

Details

In the entrance hall of the roller coaster, a hall of mirrors has been realized in steel sea containers. In addition, Van Mourik Bouw realized a large number of steel 3D squares, which are partially tilted per square to create a playful effect. Under these steel squares, Van Mourik Bouw laid out the specific serrated concrete walkways.
