Our Approach
Together with you, as the client, and our (interior) architects, we will seek out innovative solutions for your home. By working with you and the architect(s), we ensure that the design is translated into a timeless aesthetic.
During the construction process, the focus is on the building work itself, keeping the project within budget, ongoing quality control and clear lines of communication.
Step-by-step guide to building high-end homes
Step 1. Introduction and assessment of requirements
The process begins with a personal, no-obligation introductory meeting between you, as the client and/or architect, and Van Mourik Bouw. We place great value on personal contact, as we anticipate that you, as the client, and we, as the builder, will be entering into a long-term partnership, in which a good fit is certainly important.
During this meeting, we will discuss your general wishes, ideas and any existing plans. This will give us a clear picture of the scope, complexity and ambitions of the project.
Step 2. Putting together the construction team
Van Mourik Bouw prefers to work within a construction team framework. This means that, as the client, you work with us at the outset to determine which specialist parties will be involved in the further development of the project.
This approach ensures short lines of communication, transparency and efficient collaboration. For you, this means certainty regarding quality and availability. For us, it means optimal planning and preparation. Trust, clear agreements, open communication and a transparent working method form the basis of this. We would be happy to explain our specific working method during the introductory meeting.
Step 3. Developing the plans and drawing up an indicative budget

Step 4. Discussing and optimising the budget
Building as part of a construction team means complete transparency. The indicative budget is discussed jointly and optimised where necessary.
If the costs do not align with the pre-determined budget, we work together to find solutions that make the plan financially viable without compromising on quality, aesthetics or comfort. Based on these discussions, we refine the budget into a balanced and achievable plan.
Step 5. Further development of the plan with the construction team
The plans are further developed in parallel with the finalisation of the budget. Van Mourik Bouw actively supports this process by providing advice to the client and architect.
By coordinating the structural aspects, architectural elements, materials, services and detailing at an early stage, a comprehensive and workable design is created. This integrated approach prevents duplication of work, delays and unnecessary costs at a later stage.
Step 6. Start work planning
As soon as more and more details are finalised, our project planning begins. This includes requesting and comparing quotes, drawing up site layout plans, creating schedules and overseeing the planning permission process.
By starting these activities in good time, we ensure that the construction process is prepared efficiently and avoid unnecessary delays.
Step 7. Start of construction
Once the plans have been finalised, the necessary permits obtained and the budget agreed upon, construction can finally begin.
Thanks to the construction team’s approach, the project has been carefully planned and a dedicated, skilled team is ready to go. Throughout the build, we ensure clear communication, high standards and a streamlined construction process, befitting the creation of a high-end home.
High-end construction and renovation of listed buildings
Specialities
Our guiding principle is quality integrated into a smooth construction process. One of our specialities is the renovation and conversion of listed buildings. This type of construction requires extra attention and must meet a wide range of requirements, including those set by the local council or central government.
At Van Mourik Bouw, we respect historic or authentic features and are keen to work closely with our clients to integrate these elements correctly into the design by providing bespoke solutions. In this way, your design and the building receive the attention they deserve.
